Vibrations for X is composed for improvisers. It's written for a trio of women performers. The three chapters trace a gradual shift, moving from sensing to flowing, to playing, as the performers transition from guided awareness to shared intuition.
Chapter 1, Sensing, invites the players to tune into a specific pulse, a quiet prompt that opens space for connection.
Chapter 2, Flowing, lets that energy move more freely. It becomes a kind of feminine current, carried through improvisation, resonance, and breath.
Chapter 3, Playing, returns to a lighter state. Each round opens a new constellation of pitches and rhythms, from which small gestures and intervals emerge, fluid, spontaneous, and guided by mutual listening.
Throughout the piece, Dan Moi's natural harmonic row serves as the underlying material that links the trio. It creates a meeting point between Eastern and Western instruments, and between three musicians who share two things: they are women, and they make sound together. Everything beyond that remains open.
